It noted a decline in the Afghan community within India over the past two years and three months, with refugees, students, and traders leaving the country. Currently, there are no diplomats from the Afghan Republic in India, with the embassy confirming the safe relocation of previous diplomatic personnel to third countries. It noted the presence of diplomats affiliated with the Taliban attending online meetings, emphasizing that the responsibility of diplomats appointed by the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in India has officially concluded.
The embassy’s closure underscores the end of the Afghan Republic’s mission in India, prompting the Indian government to decide on the mission’s fate. The statement acknowledged historic events and current circumstances while extending gratitude to India for its support over the past 22 years.
