The snake venom case in Gautam Budh Nagar took a significant turn as the Noida police secured one-day remand of the prime suspect, Rahul Chauhan, based on fresh evidence unearthed during investigations. Chauhan is a key figure in the case involving the alleged supply of snake venom, linked to a party in Noida’s Sector 51, which led to the booking of six individuals, including popular YouTuber Elvish Yadav, on November 2. While five were arrested, Yadav was earlier questioned and released.
The suspects face charges under the Wildlife (Protection) Act and Section 120A (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly providing snake venom for recreational purposes at the Noida event. Key evidence emerged during the interrogation of the arrested suspects, comprising Rahul Chauhan (32), Teetunath (45), Narayan (50), and Ravinath (45), residents of Moharband village in Delhi’s Badarpur.
Amidst the ongoing investigation, the police have taken prime suspect Chauhan into custody again, extending until Friday noon. The objective is to explore details contained in a diary recovered earlier from Chauhan’s residence, purportedly documenting instances of supplying snake venom to various parties. An officer involved in the probe highlighted the alleged recreational use of the venom at such gatherings.
“Apart from delving into Chauhan’s involvement, the interrogation aims to further explore Elvish Yadav’s role in the case. Technical evidence obtained recently will be used during the questioning, aiming to connect pivotal elements,” shared a senior officer under anonymity.
The case emerged from a complaint filed by PFA (People for Animals) officials, alleging that they posed as rave party organizers to procure snake poison. Yadav directed them to Rahul, who, alongside snake charmers, was apprehended outside a banquet hall in Sector 51. The seizure included a vial with 20ml liquid, believed to be venom, and nine snakes, including cobras and a python.
