In response to the biting cold wave gripping the region, schools across Noida and Greater Noida have announced a three-day holiday for students starting December 29. The decision, aimed at safeguarding students from the severe weather conditions, encompasses all classes from nursery to 12.
As per the directive issued by Basic Education Officer Rahul Panwar, educational institutions will remain closed for students on both December 29 and December 30. This proactive measure has been taken in light of the chilling weather impacting the region, aligning the break with the upcoming weekend and affording students a prolonged holiday leading into the New Year festivities.
However, despite the student break, teachers and other essential staff members are required to report to their respective schools on Friday and Saturday. The order, in adherence to the instructions from District Magistrate Gautam Buddh Nagar, Maneesh Kumar Verma, aims to ensure the safety and well-being of the educational community amidst the dense fog and extreme cold weather conditions prevalent in the area.
“All the boards (CBSE/ICSE/IB and others) recognized schools, council schools, government schools, or non-government aided schools will observe holidays on December 29 and 30,” clarified Panwar, emphasizing the inclusive nature of the directive.
Meanwhile, the capital city of Delhi is also grappling with the adverse effects of the cold wave, with children and elderly individuals facing considerable hardships due to the plummeting temperatures and reduced visibility. Numerous cases of cold-related illnesses, such as coughs and colds among children, have been reported.
In Delhi, the dense fog accompanying the cold wave has resulted in the delay of 134 flights and 22 trains, causing inconvenience to travelers. At the New Delhi Railway Station, stranded passengers were observed awaiting train departures amidst the disruptions caused by the inclement weather.
The decision to declare a three-day break for students underscores the concern for their safety and well-being amid the harsh weather conditions prevalent in the region. This move aims to ensure that students can enjoy a safe and comfortable holiday period as they prepare to welcome the New Year.
