Noida Residents Fined ₹ 47,500 Each After Viral Holi Act, Total Penalty Reaches ₹ 80,500

Date:

In a recent development, the Noida Traffic Police has levied a hefty fine of ₹ 47,500 each on three individuals, including two women, for their involvement in a viral Holi act that garnered widespread criticism on social media. This penalty comes on top of an earlier fine of ₹ 33,000 imposed on the scooter-owner involved in the incident, bringing the total penalty to a staggering ₹ 80,500.

The controversy erupted when a video surfaced on social media showing the scooter-riding trio engaging in what was deemed as “vulgar” and “obscene” behavior in public places. Following public outrage and calls for action, the traffic police swiftly took action by issuing fines and lodging an FIR against the individuals involved.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Kumar Yadav emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules and road safety guidelines, urging the public to wear helmets and seat belts while riding two-wheelers or four-wheelers.

The FIR lodged against the trio at Noida’s Sector 113 police station includes charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), such as rash/negligent driving endangering human life (IPC 279), public nuisance (IPC 290), obscenity in a public place (IPC 294), and acts endangering the lives of others or causing hurt (IPC 336 and 337).

Local authorities have stated that legal proceedings in the case are ongoing, highlighting the seriousness with which such incidents are being addressed to ensure public safety and adherence to the law.
