"Five Friends Hospitalized After Vomiting Blood from 'Mouth Freshener' at Gurugram Cafe"

In a disturbing incident, five individuals experienced severe health complications, including vomiting blood, after consuming a mouth freshener at a cafe in Gurugram on March 2. The victims, who initially felt a burning sensation in their mouths, were rushed to the hospital where two are reported to be in critical condition.

Ankit Kumar, accompanied by his wife and friends, visited Laforestta Cafe in Gurugram’s Sector 90 for a meal. However, their outing turned into a nightmare when they consumed the mouth freshener, leading to immediate discomfort and distress. In a video captured by Mr. Kumar, his companions are seen in agony, with one individual vomiting on the restaurant floor and another attempting to alleviate the burning sensation with ice.

Concerned about the severity of the situation, Mr. Kumar raised an alarm, suspecting foul play and urging others in the cafe to contact the police. Subsequently, a complaint was filed with the authorities, revealing suspicions that the mouth freshener contained dry ice, identified as a hazardous acid by a medical professional consulted by Mr. Kumar.

Reports indicate that the victims’ condition deteriorated rapidly, with the burning sensation escalating to vomiting blood despite attempts to rinse their mouths with water. As a result, all five individuals were promptly hospitalized for urgent medical attention.

In response to the incident, the police have taken action against the cafe’s owner, initiating a case based on the complaints lodged by the affected individuals. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the exact composition of the mouth freshener and the circumstances leading to the distressing ordeal faced by the victims.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers lurking in everyday consumables and highlights the importance of stringent quality control measures to ensure public safety in food establishments. As the affected individuals continue their recovery, authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to bring those responsible to justice and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
