Tom Cruise’s farewell to the Mission: Impossible franchise holds strong at the Indian box office. The Final Reckoning continues to attract Indian audiences even as it enters the weekday phase. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the espionage thriller has collected an impressive ₹44.75 crore net across four days since its India release on May 17, according to trade portal Sacnilk.

The eighth and final film in the blockbuster Mission: Impossible franchise earned ₹5.50 crore net on Tuesday, showing only a marginal dip compared to Monday’s ₹5.75 crore haul. Over the weekend, the film saw solid growth, with ₹16.5 crore on Saturday and a spike to ₹17 crore on Sunday, reflecting strong word-of-mouth and steady fan interest.

In comparison, the previous installment, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023), made ₹46.2 crore net in its first four days. Despite the slight gap, The Final Reckoning is maintaining momentum and remains one of the top Hollywood performers in India this year.

The Last Mission for Ethan Hunt

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning marks the end of an era that began in 1996. In this final chapter, Ethan Hunt faces his most dangerous adversary yet — an AI entity that threatens the survival of humanity. The high-stakes action is accompanied by an ensemble cast that includes Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Czerny, and Angela Bassett, all reprising their roles.

The screenplay is co-written by Christopher McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen, and continues the franchise’s tradition of delivering adrenaline-pumping action, suspense, and intricate espionage plots.

Cruise Bids Farewell to Franchise, But Not to Action

At the Cannes Film Festival, Tom Cruise confirmed that The Final Reckoning would be his last outing as Ethan Hunt. However, the Hollywood superstar showed no signs of slowing down. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cruise declared, “I actually said I’m going to make movies into my 80s; actually, I’m going to make them into my 100s. I will never stop. I will never stop doing action, I will never stop doing drama, comedy films — I’m excited.”

As fans across India continue to show up for this cinematic swan song, Cruise’s impact on the action genre remains undeniable. With one last impossible mission, he has once again proven why he is one of Hollywood’s most enduring and beloved stars.
