Manish Sisodia Temporarily Released from Tihar Jail to Visit Ailing Wife

In a temporary reprieve, Manish Sisodia, the former deputy chief minister of Delhi currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail over an alleged liquor scam case, was allowed to visit his ailing wife. The city court granted him a six-hour release, permitting him to meet his wife between 10 am and 4 pm.

Accompanied by police personnel, Manish Sisodia arrived at his residence on Mathura Road in a prison van around 10 am. The visit holds emotional significance as Sisodia’s wife, Seema, is battling multiple sclerosis. A previous attempt to meet her in June was thwarted as she was hospitalized due to a sudden deterioration in her condition.

The court, while allowing this compassionate release, reiterated its conditions from the previous order, instructing Sisodia not to engage with the media or involve himself in any political activities during this period.

Once a senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Manish Sisodia held the position of deputy chief minister and managed various portfolios, including the Excise Department, in the Arvind Kejriwal government before his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in February. He resigned from his positions but his family continued to reside at his then-official residence on Mathura Road.

The rejection of Manish Sisodia’s bail application by the Supreme Court adds another layer to the legal complexities surrounding his case. The limited release for family reasons underscores the delicate balance between legal proceedings and personal considerations in this high-profile matter.
