BMW Crash in Mumbai: Mihir Shah's Arrest Sparks Controversy, Girlfriend Faces Questioning

In a shocking turn of events in Mumbai, 24-year-old Mihir Shah, son of a prominent Shiv Sena leader, was arrested after a BMW he was allegedly driving under the influence crashed into a scooter, resulting in the death of Kaveri Nakhwa. The incident, which occurred in Worli, has raised serious concerns and led to accusations of attempted evasion of justice.

Early on Sunday morning, Shah’s BMW collided with a scooter carrying Pradeep and Kaveri Nakhwa, who were returning after purchasing fish. The impact was severe, with Pradeep thrown from the vehicle and Kaveri dragged under the BMW for 1.5 kilometers, tragically resulting in her death.

Eyewitnesses reported that Shah, purportedly intoxicated, swapped seats with his driver after the crash, then reversed over Kaveri before fleeing the scene. Subsequently, Shah made approximately 40 calls to his girlfriend before abandoning the BMW and seeking refuge at her residence in Goregaon.

Following the crash, Shah managed to evade arrest for 72 hours, during which his father and driver were apprehended. Shah sought refuge at various locations, including a resort in Shahpur, while police intensified their search. Eventually, his whereabouts were pinpointed through a brief activation of his associate’s phone, leading to his arrest in Virar.

Mihir Shah was presented in court and remanded to police custody until July 16. Amidst public outcry and comparisons to other recent high-profile cases, questions have emerged regarding potential political influence in the handling of the case. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has assured the public that justice will prevail, emphasizing that those found guilty will face consequences irrespective of their affiliations.

In a significant development, authorities have indicated the possibility of detaining Shah’s girlfriend for questioning. The focus of this inquiry is expected to center on the extent of her knowledge regarding the incident, Shah’s state of intoxication during their interactions, and the sequence of events leading up to his eventual arrest.

The tragic incident involving Mihir Shah has not only highlighted issues of road safety and justice but has also sparked broader debates about accountability and fairness within the legal system. As investigations continue, the public and authorities alike await further developments in this unfolding case.
