Video footage from a recent anti-Maoist operation in Chhattisgarh has surfaced, providing a glimpse into the intensity and challenges faced by security personnel in combating insurgency. The operation, hailed as the state’s “biggest-ever success” by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, resulted in the death of 29 rebels, including senior leader Shankar Rao.

The video, shot by a security personnel, captures the eerie silence of a dense jungle as troops cautiously make their way through. Suddenly, the tranquility is shattered by the sound of gunshots, marking the beginning of a fierce gunfight. The joint operation by the Border Security Force (BSF) and the state police’s District Reserve Guard (DRG) unfolded in the Hapatola forest near Binagunda village in Kanker district.

In the footage, security personnel are seen navigating the rugged terrain when gunfire erupts. The tense atmosphere is palpable as the personnel communicate and coordinate their movements amidst the chaos. The video highlights the risks and challenges faced by these forces in hostile environments.

The operation was led by Laxman Kewat, a decorated officer known for his expertise in anti-Maoist operations. His team’s swift and decisive actions resulted in a significant blow to the Maoist insurgency, with Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai commending their bravery and dedication.

Addressing the media, Sai emphasized the strategic significance of the operation, especially in the lead-up to elections in Bastar and Kanker Lok Sabha constituencies. He highlighted the Maoists’ intent to disrupt peace and democratic processes, underscoring the government’s commitment to ensuring security and promoting development in the region.
