Siddaramaiah Responds to Accusations by Pratap Simha: Assures Lawful Action

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah responded firmly to allegations made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Pratap Simha, asserting that those found guilty of breaking the law would be arrested, emphasizing a commitment to justice.

“Those who break the law will be arrested, no one will be arrested if they are innocent. People will not be harmed in our government, and those who committed crimes will be prosecuted…” Siddaramaiah stated while addressing reporters on Sunday, addressing the recent accusations made against him regarding his son’s involvement.

The controversy emerged after Pratap Simha accused Siddaramaiah of utilizing power to shield his son, Yathindra, an MLA from Varuna constituency, amidst legal troubles involving his brother, Vikram Simha. Vikram was arrested by forest department officials in Bengaluru over allegations of tree cutting in the forest area of Hassan.

In his criticism, Pratap Simha remarked, “For his son’s future and for his political career, he can go to any extent. He can do anything to clear others for his son’s Lok Sabha seat from Mysore- Kodagu.”

Alleging Siddaramaiah’s inclination to “destroy” his family to safeguard his son’s interests, Simha further stated, “You don’t speak when a Dalit lady is stripped naked and tied to a pole. You didn’t speak about it. You’re a brilliant politician, sir.”

Pratap Simha also drew attention to his role in issuing passes to individuals involved in the Parliament rampage on December 13, garnering public attention.

Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah clarified his stance on the Ayodhya Ram Mandir issue, highlighting that his party is not opposed to the construction of the temple and remains in favor of the Ram Mandir’s construction.

“We are not against the issue of Ayodhya Ram Mandir, we are not against building a temple either, we are not against Ram Mandir we are in favor of Ram Mandir…,” Siddaramaiah affirmed, signaling the party’s alignment with the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

The back-and-forth exchange between the political figures highlights the intensifying tensions and contrasting viewpoints amid Karnataka’s political landscape.
