Delhi’s Air Quality Worsens as Temperatures Set to Reach 33-35°C

Date:

Delhi’s Air Quality Declines to ‘Poor’ Category; Temperature Expected to Rise to 35°C

The air quality in Delhi deteriorated to the “poor” category on Tuesday as pollution levels increased overnight. At 9 AM, the city recorded an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 238, falling under the “poor” category, compared to 197 (“moderate”) at 4 PM on Monday.

Alongside worsening air quality, Delhi’s temperature is also on the rise. The minimum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 15.7°C, two degrees above normal for this time of the year. The maximum temperature is expected to hover between 33-35°C, making it the warmest day of the season so far. On Sunday, the city recorded a high of 32.8°C, while Monday saw a maximum of 32.6°C.

Light Rain Expected Later This Week

Weather forecasts suggest that light rainfall is expected on Thursday and Friday, which may provide temporary relief from rising temperatures. However, nighttime temperatures are set to increase, with the minimum likely to range between 17-19°C on Wednesday, up from 15.2°C recorded on Monday.

Air Quality Fluctuations Expected

Delhi’s AQI has been fluctuating between the “poor” and “moderate” categories since the weekend. An increase in wind speed is expected to improve air quality slightly, pushing it back to the “moderate” category on Wednesday. The Early Warning System for Delhi predicts that air quality will continue to remain in the moderate range on Thursday as well.
