Woman Discovers Cockroach in Noodle Bowl Ordered from Zomato, Company Responds

A shocking incident involving a cockroach found in a meal ordered from Zomato has sparked outrage and garnered attention on social media platforms. Sonai Acharya, a user of the food delivery service, was left appalled after discovering a cockroach in her Japanese meal, highlighting concerns about food safety and quality control standards.

The unsettling discovery came to light when Acharya shared her experience on a microblogging platform, detailing the disturbing encounter with the unwanted guest in her meal. In a tweet posted on February 14, she expressed her disappointment and disgust, stating, “Just had a horrific experience ordering from @Zomato. Ordered Japanese miso ramen chicken from Auntie Fug’s and found a cockroach in my meal! Absolutely unacceptable and disgusting Seriously disappointed with the quality control here. @Zomato is beyond gross. #ZomatoNightmare.” Accompanying her tweet were images of the order history from Zomato and the unsettling sight of a cockroach in her noodle bowl.

Following Acharya’s post, Zomato responded promptly, acknowledging the unfortunate incident and expressing their commitment to addressing the matter. In a comment on the post, the food delivery company stated, “Hi there, we are sorry to hear about the unfortunate incident. We want to help turn this experience around. Please allow us some time to look into it, we’ll get back to you ASAP.”

This incident comes in the wake of another disturbing case where a passenger aboard the Vande Bharat Express reported finding a cockroach in the food packet served during the journey. Dr. Shubhendu Keshari, another affected individual, took to social media to share his traumatizing experience, stating, “I was travelling on 1/02/2024 train no. 20173 RKMP to JBP (Vande Bharat Exp). I was traumatised by seeing a dead cockroach in the food packet given by them,” along with images of the cockroach-infested meal.

These incidents underscore the importance of stringent quality control measures and food safety protocols across the food delivery and catering industries. As consumers increasingly rely on online platforms for food delivery services, ensuring the integrity and hygiene of meals delivered to customers remains paramount.

As Zomato pledges to investigate the matter and address the concerns raised by customers, the incidents serve as a reminder of the need for continuous vigilance and accountability in the food service industry to uphold consumer trust and satisfaction.
