Video of Azam Khan's Jail Transfer Goes Viral as He Expresses Concern Over His Safety

A video of prominent Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan being transferred to a different jail from Rampur has gone viral, drawing attention and sparking discussions surrounding his safety and the conditions of his incarceration.

In the video, Azam Khan can be heard expressing concerns about his safety during the transfer process. He mentions that “anything can happen to us; we can get encountered in between our journeys.” This statement has raised questions and discussions about the safety and well-being of the political leader.

Azam Khan and his son, Abdullah Azam, were both being moved to different jails from Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. The exact destination of Azam Khan’s transfer was not immediately clear at the time of the video’s circulation.

Additional SP Sansar Singh of Rampur cited security reasons for the decision to shift Azam Khan out of Rampur jail. The transfer began in the early hours of the morning, with both Azam Khan and his son leaving Rampur jail at around 4.40 am and reaching their respective destinations at approximately 9 am.

The jail transfer occurred following the conviction of Azam Khan, his wife Tanzeem Fatima, and his son Abdullah Azam in a fake birth certificate case on October 18. The court sentenced all three of them to a maximum of seven years’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹15,000 on each of them. While Azam Khan and his son were relocated to different jails, Azam Khan’s wife remained in Rampur jail.

The case revolves around the issuance of two different birth certificates for Abdullah Azam Khan, one indicating a birthdate of January 1, 1993, and the other showing a birthdate of September 30, 1990. This issue was referred to the District Judge, Muradabad, by the Supreme Court on September 26, with the aim of determining the correct date of birth for Azam Khan and addressing concerns related to juvenility.

The video of Azam Khan expressing apprehensions about his safety during the jail transfer has stirred public debate and raised questions about the circumstances of his imprisonment, highlighting the delicate balance between security concerns and the rights of individuals in custody.
