Medical Racket Unveiled: Arrests Made in Connection with Patient Deaths in South Delhi Clinic

A shocking revelation emerged in the heart of South Delhi’s upscale Greater Kailash area as authorities arrested four individuals linked to the deaths of two patients who underwent surgeries at a local clinic. The arrests included Dr Neeraj Agarwal, his wife Pooja Agarwal, Dr Jaspreet Singh, and former laboratory technician Mahender Singh, all connected to the distressing incidents in the clinic.

According to the police, one patient, Asghar Ali, admitted for gallbladder treatment in 2022, was informed of surgery by Dr Jaspreet but allegedly underwent the procedure conducted by Pooja and Mahendra instead. Following the surgery, Ali experienced severe distress, necessitating immediate transfer to Safdarjung Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Families of patients alleged that Dr Agarwal, operating the Agarwal Medical Centre, and the accused performed surgeries on multiple patients’ vital organs without adhering to medical protocols. Accusations pointed to Dr Agarwal’s purported use of forged documents despite being a physician, engaging in various surgeries beyond his expertise.

An investigation spanning back to 2016 revealed nine complaints against Dr Agarwal, Pooja, and the clinic, with seven cases resulting in patient deaths due to alleged medical negligence. The authorities highlighted numerous shortcomings and discrepancies in the medical centre’s practices, emphasizing Agarwal’s pattern of falsifying patient treatment records and surgical procedures.

During the probe, police seized critical evidence, including prescription slips bearing only doctors’ signatures, registers with patient details for medical procedures, and unauthorized medications stored outside hospital settings. Additionally, discoveries at Agarwal’s residence and clinic uncovered expired surgical instruments, patient documents, multiple bank-related items, and credit card machines, raising further concerns about potential malpractices.

The ongoing investigation into this medical scandal aims to uncover the full extent of irregularities, forged documents, and negligence in patient care within the clinic’s premises.
