Charminar Express Derails at Nampally Station, 5 Injured in Overshoot Incident

An unfortunate incident occurred at Telangana’s Nampally Railway Station in Hyderabad as three coaches of the Charminar Express derailed on Wednesday morning, leaving at least five individuals injured. The mishap transpired around 9:15 am, confirmed Rakesh, the chief public relations officer of the South Central Railway.

According to Rakesh, Nampally Railway Station serves as a terminal point for trains. The Charminar Express was expected to halt before reaching the station’s end. However, the train overshot its designated stop, resulting in the derailment of three coaches. Approximately five passengers standing near the doors sustained minor injuries during the incident and are currently receiving treatment at the railway hospital.

Notably, Hyderabad Deccan Railway Station serves as the final destination for the Charminar Express. Officials from the South Central Railway highlighted that upon the train’s arrival at the station, it was operating at a reduced speed and overshot the designated stopping point, causing the derailment of coaches S2, S3, and S6.

The sudden jerk from the derailment led to six passengers sustaining injuries, as per reports from officials cited by news agency PTI. The injured passengers are undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital, as confirmed by a South Central Railway official. The train had departed from Chennai on Tuesday evening and arrived in Hyderabad before the incident occurred.

An inquiry has been initiated to determine the cause behind this unfortunate occurrence, emphasizing the need to ascertain the circumstances that led to the train overshooting its designated stop and subsequently derailing three of its coaches.
