Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Coimbatore Zone, Saravana Sundar, confirmed the grim news, stating, “Around eight people died, while a few were seriously injured in the accident. Further investigation is underway.” Palani Samy, Joint Director of Coonoor Government Hospital, added his confirmation to the tragic toll, revealing that among the deceased were three females and five males.
Reports indicate that approximately 25 tourists sustained injuries in the accident, and they have been promptly transported to Coonoor government hospital for immediate medical attention. According to officials, the ill-fated bus was en route from Ooty to Mettupalaym in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu when the accident unfolded.
