Three Dead, 14 Injured as Two-Storey Building Collapses in Delhi's Karol Bagh

In a tragic incident early Wednesday morning, a two-storey building collapsed in Delhi’s Karol Bagh area, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuring 14 others. The collapse occurred around 9 a.m. in Bapa Nagar, a densely populated neighborhood in central Delhi.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) M. Harsh Vardhan, the incident involved a two-storey structure located on a plot of approximately 25 square yards. Authorities received the collapse report at the Prasad Nagar Police Station. The exact cause of the collapse remains under investigation, though preliminary suspicions suggest that the building’s age and recent heavy rains may have contributed to the disaster.

Delhi Chief Minister-Designate Atishi responded to the tragedy by extending her condolences to the victims and directing immediate aid to those affected. “This incident is tragic,” Atishi stated on X (formerly Twitter). “I have instructed the District Magistrate to provide all possible assistance to the victims and ensure that the injured receive prompt medical treatment. Investigations into the cause of the collapse are ongoing.”

Atishi also urged the public to report any signs of unsafe buildings or construction issues to prevent similar incidents in the future. “With the increased rainfall this year, it is crucial to report any structural concerns immediately. The government will take swift action to address these issues,” she added.
