Terrorists Attack Indian Air Force Convoy in J&K's Poonch, Five Personnel Injured

In a concerning development, terrorists targeted a convoy of Indian Air Force (IAF) vehicles in the Surankote area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. The attack resulted in the injury of five Air Force personnel, with one reported to be in critical condition. The injured soldiers have been promptly taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

According to sources, the attack involved heavy gunfire directed at the convoy, which included vehicles belonging to the Indian Air Force. The incident occurred as the personnel were en route to an IAF facility, and the ambush led to significant damage to one of the vehicles, evident from the bullet holes visible on its windscreen.

Immediate reinforcement was dispatched to the area following the attack, and counter-terror operations are currently underway. The local Rashtriya Rifles unit has initiated cordon and search operations in the vicinity of the attack to track down the perpetrators and prevent further threats to security.

This incident marks the first major attack on the armed forces in the region this year. Notably, the Poonch district falls under the Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency, which is scheduled for elections in the sixth phase on May 25. The attack underscores the ongoing security challenges faced by the region, particularly during sensitive periods such as elections.
