CRPF Jawan Killed, Three Injured in Manipur’s Jiribam District Firing Jiribam, Manipur – July 14, 2024: In a tragic incident, one Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel was killed, and three others were injured in a gunfight with armed miscreants in Manipur’s Jiribam district on Sunday. The exchange of fire took place in the Mongbung and Seijang villages around 9:30 am, involving combined state and central security forces. The deceased, identified as CRPF driver Ajay Kumar Jha, 43, from Bihar, was hit by a bullet on his forehead. He was immediately evacuated to Jiribam district hospital but was declared brought dead upon arrival. Another CRPF jawan sustained a bullet injury to his leg, and two Manipur state police commandos also received bullet injuries. All injured personnel are currently receiving treatment at Jiribam district hospital. The gunfight ceased at approximately 11:30 am. Chief Minister N Biren Singh strongly condemned the attack, suspecting the involvement of Kuki militants, and expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased soldier. "I strongly condemn the killing of a CRPF personnel in an attack carried out by an armed group, suspected to be Kuki militants, in Jiribam district today. His supreme sacrifice in the line of duty shall not go in vain. I further extend my sincere condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased soldier, while praying for the speedy recovery of the ones injured during the attack," he stated on X. The incident has sparked concerns over the rising violence in the region, urging authorities to intensify security measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
