“Enforcement Directorate Summons AAP Leader Durgesh Pathak Over Delhi Liquor Policy Investigation”

Durgesh Pathak, a prominent member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and MLA representing Delhi's Rajinder Nagar constituency, has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in connection with a money laundering case related to Delhi's now-revoked liquor policy. The ED has called him for questioning at 2 pm today. Bibhav Kumar, the personal assistant of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, is also under scrutiny in this case.

The Supreme Court of India has raised concerns over the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) practice of keeping accused individuals in custody without trial by continuously filing supplementary chargesheets. The remarks were made during a hearing on the default bail plea of Prem Prakash, an alleged associate of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who was arrested in August 2022 in connection with a money laundering case stemming from alleged illegal mining in Jharkhand.

The charge sheet alleges that Lalu Prasad and his family members acquired land at discounted rates from candidates who secured jobs in the railways, with the apparent intention to "consolidate" their existing land holdings, thereby increasing their overall land value in the real estate market.

In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned K Kavitha, a prominent leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, for questioning in the Delhi excise policy case. This summons comes as part of an ongoing investigation into the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy and the alleged payment of kickbacks to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders.
