Delhi Sees Light Rain and Temperature Rise, AQI Remains Satisfactory

Delhi experienced a slight increase in temperature on Saturday while continuing to receive light rain in various parts of the city. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature for the day was recorded at 35.5°C, marginally higher than the previous day's 35.2°C. The minimum temperature was logged at 27.2°C, up from Friday's 25.3°C.

Rain Showers Provide Relief from Intense Heatwave in Delhi-NCR

On Friday, parts of the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) experienced much-needed rainfall, providing significant relief from the intense heatwave that had gripped the area. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in Delhi settled at 28.4 degrees Celsius, which is normal for this time of year.

Delhi and its adjoining National Capital Region (NCR) woke up to heavy rainfall early Tuesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting continued showers throughout the day. The IMD's bulletin warned of light to moderate intensity rain accompanied by thunderstorms over the national capital and its surrounding areas.

The deteriorating air quality in Delhi has prompted the reimplementation of restrictions under Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage III, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) hitting 'severe' levels at 447, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Gopal Rai, the environment minister, announced the reimplementation of GRAP III during a press conference in response to the severe air quality conditions.

The implementation comes as the Air Quality Index (AQI) fluctuated between 'very poor' and 'severe' categories, registering AQI figures of 397 and 409 respectively.
