Comedian Samay Raina has spoken out for the first time amid the controversy surrounding his YouTube show India’s Got Latent, stating that the situation has become overwhelming for him. In response, Raina has removed all episodes of the show from his YouTube channel.
Taking to social media platform X, Raina addressed the issue, saying, “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”
Police Probe and FIR
The controversy erupted after YouTube personality Ranveer Allahbadia made objectionable remarks on the show. Following a complaint, the Maharashtra Cyber Department filed a First Information Report (FIR) over the comments, citing violations of the Information Technology Act.
Authorities have summoned more than 40 individuals, including Allahbadia and Raina, to join the investigation. According to police sources, notices have been issued to all involved, but none have appeared yet. However, some have sought additional time through their legal representatives.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the police have also instructed the producers of India’s Got Latent to remove all 18 episodes from social media platforms. A preliminary probe suggested that vulgar and obscene language had been used in multiple episodes of the show.
Political Involvement
The complaint that led to the probe was filed by a local BJP functionary. The Khar police station has recorded statements from four individuals, including social media influencer Apoorva Makhija.
With legal scrutiny intensifying, Raina’s decision to remove the videos indicates his willingness to cooperate, as authorities continue their probe into the controversial show.
