Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled an extraordinary glimpse of India’s inaugural bullet train terminal situated at the Sabarmati Multimodal transport hub in Ahmedabad. The video, shared by the Minister on Thursday, showcased the grandeur of this state-of-the-art infrastructure, designed to elevate passenger comfort and redefine the travel experience.
Scheduled to operate between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, this ambitious project has been progressively advancing since its commencement in November 2021. The foundation for the bullet train initiative was initially laid in Ahmedabad back in September 2017.
Funded and technologically supported by the Government of Japan, the terminal portrays a remarkable blend of modern features and architectural finesse. Vaishnaw, in his post caption, hailed the Sabarmati multimodal transport hub as the “Terminal for India’s first bullet train.”
The video’s captivating depiction of the terminal garnered immense attention from citizens, accumulating over 565,000 views and 20,000 likes. Comments poured in, praising the terminal’s architectural brilliance and its blend of modernity with cultural heritage.
One user expressed admiration, calling it a “glorious structure blending modernity with heritage,” foreseeing the railway’s role in propelling the nation to greater heights. Another highlighted a list of accomplishments, including the bullet train, as a testament to remarkable infrastructure development.
Ashwini Vaishnaw had earlier announced the targeted completion of the Bilimora-Surat section, constituting India’s initial 50km bullet train stretch, by August 2026. He also highlighted significant progress in constructing viaducts and pier work for the expansive Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor, marking substantial milestones in the project’s evolution.
With an estimated cost of ₹1.08 lakh crore, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor’s funding involves contributions from the central government, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. Japan’s loan, acquired at a minimal 0.1% interest rate, will cover the remaining financial requirements.
The consistent progress and visionary scope of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor signify a transformative leap in India’s railway infrastructure, marking a monumental stride towards futuristic travel experiences.
