A disturbing incident has unfolded at a Third Wave Coffee outlet on BEL Road in Bengaluru, where an employee was caught hiding a mobile phone in the women’s restroom, with the device reportedly recording video for about two hours. The phone, concealed in the dustbin bag with a hole made for the camera, was discovered by a woman using the restroom.
The situation came to light when an Instagram account, ‘Gangs Of Cinepur,’ shared a story detailing the harrowing experience. The story described how the phone, in flight mode to avoid detection, was found facing the toilet seat. Upon discovery, it was revealed that the phone belonged to a male employee of the coffee chain. The police were notified, and they promptly arrived at the scene to take action.
The Instagram post emphasized the shock and horror experienced by the woman who found the phone and urged vigilance in restroom safety across all public places. “This was so horrific to witness. I will be vigilant at any washroom I use from now on, no matter how well-known the chain of cafes or restaurants is,” the post read.
In response to the incident, Third Wave Coffee issued a statement expressing regret and condemning the actions of the employee. “We regret the unfortunate incident at our BEL Road outlet in Bengaluru and want to emphasize that such actions are absolutely unacceptable at Third Wave Coffee,” the chain said. The company assured that they took immediate action by terminating the employee involved and ensuring the safety of their customers.
The police have confirmed the arrest of the accused, a man in his early twenties from Bhadrawati, Karnataka, under the IT Acts. The coffee chain has committed to cooperating fully with the investigation and implementing additional measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
