Nigerian Woman Apprehended in Mumbai with Drugs Worth ₹2 Crore

A Nigerian woman was apprehended by Mumbai’s Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) in possession of narcotics worth approximately ₹2 crore. Acting on specific intelligence, the AIU intercepted the woman during her travel from Mumbai to Delhi in the early hours of Saturday.

Upon conducting a thorough search, AIU officers discovered 20 capsules, allegedly containing heroin, concealed within her brassiere. The woman, identified as Victoria Okafor, was found to be in possession of the illicit substance.

During interrogation, Okafor confessed to her involvement in the drug trafficking operation, acknowledging that she was transporting the drugs. The investigation revealed that the contraband was provided to her by an individual named Onye from Nallasopara in the neighboring Palghar district.

Subsequently, Okafor was arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigations into the case are currently underway as authorities seek to unravel the intricacies of the drug smuggling network and ascertain any additional accomplices involved.

The AIU’s swift action in intercepting the woman and seizing the substantial quantity of drugs underscores their vigilance in combating drug trafficking activities in the region. The apprehension of individuals involved in such illicit operations remains a priority for law enforcement agencies to curb the circulation of narcotics within the country.
