Prime Minister Narendra Modi made history in Patna as he held his first-ever roadshow in the city, marking a significant event in the ongoing election campaign. This roadshow, a first by any Prime Minister in Patna, commenced near Bhattacharya Road at around 7.20 pm, attracting a massive gathering of supporters and onlookers.
Patna, a stronghold for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with two crucial parliamentary constituencies of Patliputra and Patna Sahib, witnessed enthusiastic crowds lining the streets to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister. Accompanied by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary, and other dignitaries, Modi embarked on the roadshow aboard a specially designed vehicle. Notably, Patna Sahib candidate Ravi Shankar Prasad also joined Modi during this significant event.
After the roadshow, Prime Minister Modi is set to spend the night at the Raj Bhawan in Patna. On Monday, he is scheduled to hold three election rallies across Bihar, including Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, and Saran. These constituencies are among the five parliamentary seats in Bihar participating in the fifth phase of the ongoing national elections. Additionally, five other seats in the state are also slated for voting on Monday.
Ahead of his rallies, Prime Minister Modi plans to visit Takht Harmandir, a renowned Sikh shrine located in the old city area and the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh. His rally destinations in Bihar are strategically chosen, with significant contests unfolding in each constituency. In Hajipur, the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan is contesting for the first time, succeeding his late father Ram Vilas Paswan. In Saran, the BJP’s Rajiv Pratap Rudy faces off against RJD President Lalu Prasad’s daughter Rohini Acharya. Lastly, in Muzaffarpur, Modi will lend his support to BJP candidate Raj Bhushan Choudhary Nishad.
Modi’s visit and active campaigning underscore the importance of Bihar in the national political landscape, with 40 Lok Sabha seats at stake. In 2019, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured 39 out of the 40 seats in Bihar, making it a crucial battleground state in Indian politics.
