Karnataka Minister MB Patil unveiled significant updates on the state’s railway infrastructure on Monday, outlining key advancements and future plans for the suburban railway and other critical projects.

Addressing reporters in Bengaluru, Minister Patil shared that two lines of the suburban railway, covering up to 75 kilometers, are scheduled for completion by December 2026. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity within the state and is part of a larger cost-sharing arrangement between the Karnataka state government and the Government of India.

“We had a meeting regarding the state railway projects, including the suburban railway, which involves a 50-50 cost-sharing arrangement between Karnataka and the central government,” Minister Patil said. “We reviewed all the projects and concluded that two lines of the suburban railway will be completed by December 2026, extending up to 75 km.”

The minister also highlighted plans to integrate the suburban railway with the proposed circular railway network, which is expected to further improve connectivity across the region. Additionally, there are plans to strengthen the Hasan-Bengaluru railway double link line, a project deemed essential for supporting local industries. The enhancement of port access to Mangaluru and Karwar is also on the agenda, aiming to boost economic activities in these coastal areas.

These updates reflect the state government’s commitment to advancing railway infrastructure and fostering economic growth through improved transportation links. The ongoing and future projects are expected to significantly benefit Karnataka’s industrial sector and regional connectivity.
