
India is witnessing a fresh spike in Covid-19 infections, with active cases rising to 2,710 across the country. Kerala currently leads the tally with 1,147 active cases, followed by Maharashtra with 424 and Delhi with 294, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday.
State-wise Covid Status
Kerala has seen a significant increase, reporting 227 new active cases since Thursday. Other states with notable numbers include Gujarat with 223 active cases, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka each with 148, and West Bengal with 116. Meanwhile, Sikkim continues to report zero active Covid cases.
Covid-Related Deaths
The rise in cases has also been accompanied by 22 deaths nationwide since January 2025. Maharashtra has recorded the highest number of deaths at 7, followed by Kerala with 5 fatalities. Delhi has reported 2 Covid-related deaths, including a 60-year-old woman who passed away due to Acute Intestinal Obstruction. The remaining deaths are spread across other states.
Recoveries and Discharges
On a positive note, 1,170 people have recovered or been discharged since January this year. Kerala leads in recoveries with 338 cases, followed by Delhi with 214 and Tamil Nadu with 183.
Government Measures
In response to the surge, the government has intensified surveillance and reinforced Covid-19 protocols. Health authorities have urged vulnerable populations, especially the elderly and those with comorbidities, to stay up to date with their vaccinations. Several states have also ramped up testing efforts and issued health advisories to contain the spread.
Health experts emphasize the importance of continued vigilance as the nation navigates through this recent uptick in Covid cases.
