Haryana Considers Monthly Pension for Unmarried Individuals as CM Khattar Aims for Social Welfare

Date:

In a move aimed at supporting unmarried individuals, the Haryana state government is considering the implementation of a monthly pension scheme for unmarried men and women above the age of 45. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced the government’s intention to introduce the policy during a ‘Jan Samvad’ program held in Kalampura village, Karnal district. He assured that the policy would be finalized within a month.

The decision came in response to a complaint filed by a 60-year-old unmarried man, highlighting the need for pension-related assistance. Taking note of the concerns, CM Khattar acknowledged the importance of addressing the welfare of unmarried individuals and emphasized the government’s efforts to introduce the scheme.

In a separate development, CM Khattar responded to reports suggesting a delay in the construction of an 800 MW coal-based power plant in Yamunanagar. The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, had reportedly proposed establishing the plant at the pithead in Jharkhand. CM Khattar affirmed that while the government’s priority remained the construction of the power plant in Yamunanagar due to its potential to generate employment, the final decision would be made after consulting with central agencies and considering environmental factors.

Explaining the situation, CM Khattar noted that the allocation of pitheads for thermal power plants was a part of the national policy to minimize transportation costs and other expenses. However, the allocated pithead in Haryana falls within a naxal-hit area, delaying the commencement of work. He clarified that this was a separate issue from the proposal to establish a new power plant in Yamunanagar, as it aimed to replace existing power plants in Panipat that had reached the end of their prescribed life span.

Addressing other topics, CM Khattar expressed the government’s support for implementing a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) across the country. He also made various promises during the ‘Jan Samvad’ program, including the establishment of sports complexes, gyms, libraries, and school buildings in the district.

Additionally, CM Khattar acknowledged the complaints received regarding ransom calls from gangsters to businessmen in the state, assuring that stringent actions would be taken against the perpetrators. He also announced plans to establish a Sanskriti Model School in Kalampura village, along with providing self-employment opportunities to 50,000 individuals under the Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana.

The chief minister’s participation in the Raahgiri program, alongside local BJP leaders and Karnal district officials, highlighted the government’s commitment to community engagement and participation in various activities.

As the Haryana government deliberates on the implementation of a monthly pension scheme for unmarried individuals, it remains to be seen how the policy will shape up and provide support to those who are eligible.
