Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Jagan Mohan Reddy, along with two Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, has been implicated in an attempted murder case filed by ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA K Raghurama Krishna Raju. The case alleges a criminal conspiracy against Raju, citing incidents dating back three years.
Raju, who filed the First Information Report (FIR), accused Reddy and the IPS officers PV Sunil Kumar and PSR Sitaramanjaneyulu, along with retired police officer R Vijay Paul and former Guntur Government General Hospital superintendent G Prabhavat. The complaint, submitted a month ago and registered recently after legal counsel, claims custodial torture and unlawful arrest during the COVID-19 pandemic in May 2021.
According to Raju, the arrest was made without due process, ignoring his medical condition post-heart surgery. Allegedly bullied and mistreated, he accused officials of fabricating medical reports to cover up injuries sustained during custody. Subsequently, Raju was transferred to Secunderabad Army Hospital under Supreme Court orders before being granted bail.
The case has stirred controversy, with implications reaching the highest levels of state governance during Reddy’s tenure as Chief Minister. As legal proceedings unfold, tensions remain high in Andhra Pradesh political circles, awaiting further developments in this complex and sensitive matter.
