Filmmaker Sanoj Mishra Arrested for Rape After Bail Rejection by Delhi High Court

Date:

Filmmaker Sanoj Mishra, who had offered a film role to viral Kumbh Mela sensation Monalisa, has been arrested in connection with a rape case. The Delhi Police apprehended Mishra on March 30, 2024, after gathering intelligence and conducting technical surveillance. His arrest took place in Ghaziabad, and he was taken into custody by Nabi Karim Police Station.

Allegations Against Sanoj Mishra

A 28-year-old woman from a small town has accused Sanoj Mishra (45) of repeated sexual assault over a span of four years. The woman, who aspired to be an actress, claims she was in a live-in relationship with Mishra in Mumbai. She further alleged that Mishra forced her to undergo three abortions and later broke his promise of marriage.

An FIR was registered on March 6, 2024, under multiple sections, including:

  • Rape
  • Assault
  • Causing miscarriage
  • Criminal intimidation

The complainant reiterated her allegations in a statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). Police have also gathered medical evidence related to the alleged abortions from Muzaffarnagar.

Incident That Led to the Complaint

The complaint stems from an incident on February 18, 2025, when Mishra allegedly took the victim to Hotel Shiva in Nabi Karim, New Delhi. According to the woman’s statement, Mishra engaged in sexual relations with her at the hotel before abandoning her, prompting her to file a police complaint.

Legal Proceedings

Following the denial of his bail plea by the Delhi High Court, Mishra was arrested and taken into custody. The court had previously reviewed the case before rejecting his request for bail.
