Fatal Shooting in Mumbai Leaves One Dead, Three Injured Amidst Personal Rivalry

Tragedy struck the Azad Galli locality in Chunabhatti, Mumbai, as a shooting incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon, claiming the life of one person and leaving three others injured. The assailant, who is currently on the run, allegedly fired around 16 rounds during the altercation, prompting a swift police response.

The chaos erupted at approximately 3:15 pm when a man, yet to be apprehended, opened fire at residents of the locality. The attack resulted in the tragic demise of Sumit Yerunkar, confirmed an official from the Chunabhatti police station.

Upon receiving the distress call, law enforcement swiftly reached the scene. The injured individuals were promptly rushed to the nearby Sion Hospital for medical treatment. Reports suggest that the condition of the three wounded victims is currently stable, providing a glimmer of hope amidst the grim situation.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 6) Hemrajsingh Rajput shed light on the ongoing investigation, stating that nine specialized teams have been mobilized to track down the fugitive accused, whose identity has been established. Rajput confirmed that the shooting incident was a result of a personal rivalry, further emphasizing the nature of the altercation.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the locality, highlighting the prevalence of personal disputes escalating to such extreme and tragic consequences.
