“Delhi Minister Alleges Chief Secretary’s Misuse of Power, Seeks CBI Probe”

Date:

Delhi’s Vigilance Minister, Atishi, has leveled serious allegations against Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, accusing him of facilitating undue benefits for his son in securing a government tender and profiting substantially. The minister submitted a detailed supplementary report to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, outlining the accusations against the Chief Secretary.

The allegations suggest that Naresh Kumar’s son’s company, MetaMix, purportedly received a tender without due process for developing AI software for the Delhi government’s ILBS Hospital, yielding significant profits. The supplementary report claims that MetaMix, a company formed merely seven months ago with no prior experience in AI-based software development, allegedly profited enormously from this project.

Atishi’s report, dated November 16, 2023, recommends the immediate removal of the Chief Secretary from his position and calls for disciplinary action against him. Furthermore, she proposes terminating the agreement between MetaMix and ILBS Hospital and seeks a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the matter.

The report delves into the nature of the partnership between MetaMix and ILBS, scrutinizing the processes involved, the benefits accrued, and potential conflicts of interest arising from this collaboration.

Earlier, on November 16, the Delhi Government referred an alleged ₹850 crore land acquisition scam in the Dwarka Expressway project to the CBI. This move followed Atishi’s preliminary report to Chief Minister Kejriwal regarding the Chief Secretary’s purported involvement in inflating compensation for a land parcel, benefiting a company linked to his son.

Despite earlier rebuttals by Delhi’s Additional Chief Secretary Ashwani Kumar, who dismissed the allegations as false and baseless, Atishi’s supplementary report has reignited the controversy. Kumar condemned the perceived character assassination of the Chief Secretary, emphasizing the need to present facts amid what he termed as spreading misconceptions and lies.
