Mumbai BMW Hit-and-Run: Look Out Circular Issued for Absconding Mihir Shah

In a shocking turn of events, Mumbai Police have issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Mihir Shah, the prime suspect in a fatal hit-and-run case involving a BMW in Worli. The incident, which occurred early on Sunday morning, resulted in the death of a 45-year-old woman and has sparked widespread outrage.

CCTV footage has surfaced showing Mihir Shah, accompanied by friends, leaving a pub in a Mercedes before the accident. According to police reports, Shah later switched to driving the BMW involved in the collision, while his driver occupied the passenger seat.

The victim, identified as Kaveri Nakhwa, was riding pillion on a scooter with her husband when the BMW allegedly driven by Shah collided with them on Dr Annie Besant Road. The impact was severe, dragging Nakhwa’s body for over 2 kilometers. Despite immediate medical attention, she succumbed to her injuries upon arrival at the hospital.

Following the incident, Mihir Shah reportedly fled the scene towards the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, abandoning the BMW and his driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, near Kala Nagar in Bandra. Shah’s father, Rajesh Shah, a prominent Shiv Sena leader from Palghar, and Bidawat were subsequently arrested for allegedly aiding Shah’s escape.

Concerns over Shah potentially leaving the country prompted the issuance of the LOC by Mumbai Police, who have mobilized multiple teams to locate and apprehend him. Authorities suspect Shah was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, having been seen at a bar in Juhu hours before the collision. Police are investigating a bill of ₹18,000 from the bar and reviewing CCTV footage from the establishment as part of their inquiries.

Both arrested individuals are set to appear before a local court, charged under various sections including culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, addressing the incident, assured that the law would be enforced impartially and emphasized that justice would prevail for the victim and her family.
