Delhi Schools Receive New Bomb Threat Emails, Authorities Conduct Searches

Delhi was once again on edge on Friday morning as bomb threat emails were sent to sixteen schools, marking the second such incident in less than a week. The threats prompted a swift response from multiple agencies, including the Delhi Police, fire department, bomb detection teams, and dog squads, who launched searches at the affected schools to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The threat emails, sent at around 12:54 am, warned of bomb blasts at the targeted schools on Friday and Saturday, mentioning events such as parent-teacher meetings and sports day activities. The authorities were quick to respond, arriving at the schools and advising parents to either keep their children at home or collect them if they had already arrived.

The schools affected included Bhatnagar International School in Paschim Vihar, Cambridge School in Shri Niwas Puri, DPS Amar Colony in East of Kailash, South Delhi Public School in Defence Colony, Delhi Police Public School in Safdarjung, and Venkateshwar Global School in Rohini. Each school received calls reporting bomb threats at different times throughout the morning.

Cambridge School’s principal, Madhavi Goswami, discovered the email during her routine check and immediately informed the police. She assured parents that the situation was under control and that online classes would be held for the day.

This new wave of bomb threats comes just days after 44 schools in Delhi received similar emails on December 9. The Delhi Police had confirmed that the previous threats were hoaxes after extensive searches revealed no explosives. Despite this, security measures have been heightened, with more police presence and emergency response teams at key schools across the capital.

The repeated bomb threats have sparked concerns, especially from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Taking to social media, Kejriwal criticized the frequency of these threats, emphasizing the negative impact on children’s education. “If this continues, how badly will it affect the children? What will happen to their studies?” Kejriwal said in a post, questioning the toll of these disruptions.

As of now, Delhi Police are continuing their investigations into the source of the threats, while officials have reassured the public that every effort is being made to ensure the safety of the city’s schools and students. Authorities have vowed to keep a close watch on the situation to prevent further panic and disturbances.
