The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its attack on Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, calling for his resignation amidst allegations of financial irregularities involving the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation. Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, accused Siddaramaiah of corruption and demanded a thorough investigation into the alleged scams.
Karandlaje asserted that Siddaramaiah, who also holds the finance minister’s portfolio, should step down immediately to facilitate an impartial probe. She alleged that funds amounting to ₹187 crore were illicitly transferred from the Valmiki Development Corporation to Hyderabad, purportedly to finance elections in Telangana. The BJP leader further claimed that Siddaramaiah’s wife benefited from the MUDA land scam under a controversial 50:50 ratio scheme.
“The state’s SC/ST Sub Plan funds have allegedly been diverted to fulfill electoral promises made by the Congress,” Karandlaje stated, criticizing what she described as Karnataka becoming “an ATM for the Congress and its high command.”
The controversy surrounding the Valmiki Development Corporation intensified after its accounts superintendent, Chandrashekhar P, died by suicide, leaving behind a note alleging unauthorized financial transfers. This prompted the resignation of Scheduled Tribes Welfare Minister B Nagendra, currently in Enforcement Directorate custody.
Regarding the MUDA scandal, Karandlaje highlighted allegations of improper allotments of residential plots, including those allocated to Siddaramaiah’s wife. The scheme in question was intended to compensate land losers with developed plots, but critics argue it has been exploited for personal gain.
