“Bihar Police Detain ‘Solver Gang’ Charging ₹5 Lakh for NEET Exam Services”

Date:

Patna Police has detained five members of a solver gang in connection with the NEET UG 2024 question paper leak case. According to an official statement, the gang charged ₹5 lakh per person for taking the NEET exam on behalf of others.

The revelation came to light during questioning when the detained members disclosed the modus operandi of the solver gangs. These gangs were reportedly active in the NEET examination, with many members posing as real candidates during the exam.

One of the gang’s members, identified as an MBBS student from a prominent medical college in Patna named Sonu Singh, was apprehended in Shastri Nagar locality. Singh allegedly appeared in the examination in place of a student named Abhishek Raj at an examination centre in Shastri Nagar.

Speaking on the matter, Patna SSP Rajeev Mishra stated that an investigation is underway to determine if the question papers were leaked. “Interrogation of the detained individuals is ongoing, and several names have surfaced in connection with this case. We have registered an FIR in Patna regarding this incident,” Mishra commented.

Sources revealed that the question paper was uploaded on the internet at 4 p.m. on Sunday, prompting the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducted the examination, to launch an investigation. Over 23 lakh students appeared for the NEET UG 2024 exam.

The case highlights the challenges of maintaining the integrity of national-level examinations and the prevalence of solver gangs exploiting such exams for financial gain. Authorities are taking stringent measures to address this issue and ensure fairness in the examination process.
