Attempted Assault on Minister Giriraj Singh During Bihar Public Event

Date:

In a shocking incident at a public event in Begusarai, Bihar, a man attempted to assault Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Monday. The incident occurred as Singh was concluding a Janata Darbar at his home constituency, approximately 125 kilometers from Patna.

The altercation began when the 71-year-old minister was wrapping up the event. The assailant seized Singh’s microphone and attempted to punch him. The attack was quickly thwarted by party workers and security personnel present at the scene.

In a video statement following the incident, Singh expressed his defiance, saying, “When I was leaving the event, the man took the mic forcefully and started behaving as if he was going to attack me. He started raising ‘Murdabad’ slogans. I am not afraid of such attacks.” Singh, who serves as the Union Minister for Textiles, further asserted, “Giriraj Singh is not afraid of such things. We will continue to raise our voice against whoever wants to spoil communal harmony.”

Singh also made a stark comment regarding the assailant’s intentions, stating, “If this man had a revolver in his hand, he would have killed me the way he attacked me. However, his attack failed. He used very abusive language. No matter how many terror mongers come, it will not affect me.”

The minister added that the attacker had been subdued by the crowd and was subsequently handed over to the police. Begusarai Superintendent of Police Maneesh confirmed that the suspect is currently in police custody and that an investigation is underway.

This incident recalls a similar high-profile attack earlier in June when actor-politician Kangana Ranaut was slapped by a Central Industrial Security Force constable at the Chandigarh airport. The constable, Kulwinder Kaur, was later suspended and transferred to a reserve battalion in Bengaluru following the incident.
