In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s significant visit to Assam, the residents of Bokakhat in Golaghat district illuminated the night sky with the glow of one lakh diyas as a heartfelt welcome gesture.
PM Modi is scheduled to embark on his maiden visit to the UNESCO heritage site Kaziranga National Park, where he will partake in a safari experience, marking a momentous occasion for the state. The Prime Minister’s itinerary includes an overnight stay at the renowned national park.
During his visit, PM Modi is slated to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a slew of developmental projects aimed at bolstering Assam’s infrastructure and economic growth. Among the key initiatives is the inauguration of a ₹3,992 crore pipeline project spanning from Barauni to Guwahati, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and accessibility in the region.
Furthermore, PM Modi will lay the foundation stones for the expansion of Digboi Refinery and Guwahati Refinery, with investments totaling ₹768 crores and ₹510 crore, respectively. These endeavors are poised to significantly augment the state’s refining capacity and contribute to its energy landscape.
In addition to infrastructure projects, the Prime Minister is scheduled to address a rally at Meleng Meteli and inaugurate various initiatives undertaken by both the central and state governments, reaffirming the commitment to holistic development in Assam.
PM Modi’s visit also holds symbolic significance as he is slated to perform the ‘Griha Pravesh’ ceremony for 5.5 lakh houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), underscoring the government’s dedication to providing affordable housing to all.
However, in light of PM Modi’s visit to Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, certain activities, such as jeep safaris and elephant rides in the Kaziranga range of Kohora, will remain suspended from March 7 to 9, ensuring the smooth conduct of the Prime Minister’s visit.
