US Space Experts Express Interest in India's Space Technology After Chandrayaan-3: ISRO Chief

In a significant testament to India’s burgeoning prowess in space technology, experts involved in developing complex rocket missions in the United States have shown keen interest in India’s achievements. Specifically, they have expressed a desire for India to share its space technology following their observation of the developmental activities related to the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft, according to ISRO Chairman S Somanath.

The ISRO chief emphasized that India has come a long way and now possesses the capabilities to construct high-quality devices and rockets. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to open the space sector to private players is a testament to India’s prowess in space technology.

Somanath remarked, “Our country is a very powerful nation. The knowledge and intelligence level in the country is one of the best in the world.” He recounted an instance where NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (NASA-JPL) experts visited ISRO to examine the Chandrayaan-3 mission. “About six people from NASA-JPL came, and we explained Chandrayaan-3 to them. That was before the soft landing. We explained how we designed it and how our engineers made it… and how we are going to land on the Moon’s surface, and they just said, ‘No comments. Everything is going to be good.'”

Somanath shared that the US space experts were particularly impressed with the scientific instruments used in the mission. They found them to be both cost-effective and high-tech. “So you can understand how the times have changed. We are capable of building the best equipment, best devices, and the best rockets in India. That is why our PM has opened up the space sector,” he said.

He went on to reveal India’s open invitation to companies to contribute to the nation’s space technology efforts. “Now we are telling you people to come and build rockets, satellites, and make our nation more powerful in space technology,” Somanath added.

Somanath concluded with a vision for the future of India’s space program, encouraging young and aspiring scientists and engineers. He shared the dream of an Indian astronaut landing on the Moon, a dream he believes will become a reality, further underlining India’s growing prominence in the global space arena.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission, as discussed by Somanath, showcases India’s burgeoning capabilities in the space sector. As the nation continues to make significant strides in space technology, international collaboration and interest from experts around the world indicate India’s growing presence in the field.
