Actor Vijayashanti, known for her political shifts, has sparked controversy by accusing Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) of corruption. Vijayashanti, who recently rejoined the Congress, criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for failing to act against KCR despite labeling him as corrupt.
Addressing her switch to the Congress, Vijayashanti highlighted the BJP’s alliance with KCR’s Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and suggested that their collaboration hindered any actions against the alleged corruption. “BJP leaders claim KCR and his family are corrupt but haven’t sent agencies like ED, CBI to investigate,” she stated, emphasizing her reason for siding with the Congress ahead of the crucial Telangana election.
Asserting her stance, Vijayashanti was appointed as the chief coordinator for the campaign and planning committee for the upcoming election, stating, “KCR should be put behind bars.”
The actor-politician criticized the BJP’s internal dynamics, referring to the removal of Bandi Sanjay Kumar, alleging it disrupted the party’s prospects in Telangana. Vijayashanti’s political journey has been marked by shifts across various parties, including BJP, TRS, and Congress, drawing attention for her controversial statements, including remarks about PM Modi’s governance.
Renowned for her work in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam cinema, Vijayashanti’s career includes award-winning performances, notably earning the National Film Award for Best Actress for her role as a cop in ‘Kartavyam.’ Her return to the Congress signifies a significant shift in the political landscape ahead of the impending Telangana election.
