AAP Emphasizes Sunita Kejriwal's Role Amidst Arvind Kejriwal's Absence

As Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal remains in judicial custody, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has highlighted the pivotal role of his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, in maintaining party unity during this challenging period.

AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj emphasized Sunita Kejriwal’s significance in keeping the party together, noting her effective communication of Arvind Kejriwal’s messages to party members and sympathizers. Bharadwaj underscored that beyond the party’s manifesto, the emotional connection between the cadre and top leadership plays a crucial role in organizational coherence.

In interactions with PTI editors, Bharadwaj highlighted Sunita Kejriwal’s consistent efforts in delivering her husband’s messages despite his absence. He praised her positive impact on the party cadre and expressed the party’s intention to leverage this influence further.

Arvind Kejriwal’s recent arrest in a money-laundering case linked to Delhi’s excise policy has shifted attention to Sunita Kejriwal, who has been actively representing her husband’s views during his confinement. Her digital briefings and public appearances, including at the INDIA bloc ‘maharally,’ have garnered attention, prompting discussions about her potential role in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

While AAP leaders have expressed hopes for Sunita Kejriwal’s participation in campaign activities, they also stressed that such decisions are personal and subject to her discretion. Nonetheless, her prominent presence amidst her husband’s absence has been viewed as a unifying factor within the party.

Addressing gestures of support within the party, such as AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh touching Sunita Kejriwal’s feet after his release on bail, Bharadwaj highlighted the unity and familial bond among party members during challenging times. He emphasized the party’s collective efforts in maintaining cohesion and dismissed speculations of internal discord following Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest.
