"State-Run Fuel Companies Reduce Commercial LPG Prices; Modi's Initiative Benefits Millions"

State-run fuel retailers have recently announced a reduction in the prices of non-subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) used for commercial purposes. This move follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of a significant cooking gas price cut for all customers, aimed at easing the financial burden on households, especially on International Women’s Day.

The price of non-subsidised 19-kg commercial gas cylinders used in hotels, restaurants, and industrial applications has been reduced by ₹30.50 per refill. This reduction comes shortly after the government’s decision to cut cooking LPG prices by ₹100 per 14.2-kg cylinder, benefiting a massive 320 million households across the nation.

The new prices for non-subsidised 19-kg commercial gas cylinders are ₹1,764.50 in Delhi, ₹1,879 in Kolkata, ₹1,717.50 in Mumbai, and ₹1,930 in Chennai. These prices may vary due to local levies.

While the prices of subsidised 14.2-kg LPG cylinders used for household cooking remain unchanged, the international decrease in fuel prices will reduce the government’s subsidy burden proportionately. Subsidised 14.2-kg LPG cylinders are now available at ₹803 each for general customers and at ₹503 per cylinder for 102.7 million poor households covered under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative on Women’s Day included reducing LPG cylinder prices by ₹100 for all customers, significantly benefiting households nationwide. This announcement was part of the government’s effort to support Nari Shakti and alleviate financial pressures on families.

Additionally, the Union Cabinet approved ₹12,000 crore for PMUY beneficiaries by extending a ₹300 subsidy on every cooking gas refill for another year, up to March 31, 2025. The PMUY scheme, launched in May 2016, aims to provide clean cooking fuel to rural and deprived households by offering deposit-free gas connections to adult women.
