Delhi-Bound Akasa Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Mumbai Following Bomb Threat

An Akasa flight carrying 185 passengers from Pune to Delhi made an emergency landing at the Mumbai Airport in the early hours of today following a bomb threat made by a passenger. The flight had been en route to Delhi but was diverted to Mumbai Airport as a precaution. After thorough security checks, it was determined that the bomb threat was a hoax, and the flight continued its journey to Delhi.

The incident occurred shortly after the flight’s takeoff from Pune. A passenger claimed to have a bomb in his bag, prompting immediate action by the flight crew. In compliance with safety and security procedures, the captain decided to divert the plane to Mumbai.

Upon landing in Mumbai, the passenger who had made the bomb claim was taken to a hospital by ambulance due to complaints of chest pain. It was later revealed that he had taken medication for chest discomfort. An investigation was carried out in the presence of the Bomb Detection and Disposable Squad (BDDS) team, along with police officers. No suspicious objects were found during the search of the passenger’s luggage.

Akasa Airlines, in an official statement, confirmed the security alert and the subsequent actions taken. The airline mentioned that flight QP 1148, scheduled to depart from Pune to Delhi, received the security alert shortly after takeoff. The flight was diverted to Mumbai, and the captain followed all required emergency procedures, ensuring a safe landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

After receiving clearance from the police, the flight resumed its journey to Delhi from Mumbai Airport, departing around 6 am. The Mumbai Police is continuing its investigation into the incident to determine the nature and intent of the bomb threat.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilant security measures and rapid response protocols to safeguard the safety and well-being of all passengers during air travel.
