In a heartfelt ceremony held in Lucknow, Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj got engaged on Sunday. The private event saw several prominent SP leaders, including party president Akhilesh Yadav, his wife MP Dimple Yadav, Rajya Sabha MP and veteran actress Jaya Bachchan, and senior leader Shiv Pal Yadav, come together to bless the couple.
The engagement took place at Hotel Centrum in Lucknow, with rituals such as Bariksha and Godh Bharai planned ahead of the ring exchange. Pandit Umesh Trivedi, who conducted the ceremony, confirmed these traditional customs were observed during the intimate gathering.

Rinku Singh, 26, hails from Aligarh and rose to fame during IPL 2023 after hitting five consecutive sixes in a single over, leading Kolkata Knight Riders to a thrilling victory over Gujarat Titans. Priya Saroj, one of the youngest MPs elected in 2024, represents Machhlishahr in the Lok Sabha.
According to SP MLA and Priya’s father, Tufani Saroj, the couple’s meeting was orchestrated through a mutual connection. “Rinku and Priya have known each other for some time. They were introduced through Priya’s friend’s father, who is a cricketer himself. With blessings from both families, they have decided to get married,” he shared with ANI.
The engagement has been widely appreciated by fans and political leaders alike, who wish the couple happiness and success in their future together.
