2 Soldiers Killed in IED Attack by Terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor Sector

Two Indian Army soldiers were killed in action in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor sector on Monday, the army confirmed.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the White Knight Corps paid tribute to the fallen soldiers, stating, “White Knight Corps salutes and pays tribute to the supreme sacrifice of two gallant soldiers.”

Attack During Fence Patrol Along LoC

According to army officials, the attack took place while soldiers were on a fence patrol along the Line of Control (LoC). Following the explosion, security forces launched an intensive search operation in the area to track down the perpetrators.

Recent Increase in Cross-Border Incidents

This attack comes amid a surge in ceasefire violations and cross-border firing incidents. Just yesterday, a soldier was critically injured by gunfire along the LoC in Rajouri district. The soldier, stationed at a forward post in the Kalal area of the Nowshera sector, was hit by a bullet at 2:40 PM and was immediately taken to a military hospital for treatment.

Additionally, on February 8, an army patrol in the Keri sector came under fire from a forested area across the LoC. The attack was believed to be an attempt by terrorists waiting to infiltrate into Indian territory. In response, Indian troops retaliated and strengthened the anti-infiltration grid to prevent future incursions.

The latest attack in Akhnoor has once again raised concerns about terrorist activities and infiltration attempts along the LoC. Security forces remain on high alert, with search operations underway to neutralize any potential threats.
