Three coaches of the Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express derailed this morning near Howrah, West Bengal. The derailment occurred at Nalpur, located about 40 km from Kolkata, in the Kharagpur Division. The incident took place at approximately 5:31 AM while the train was shifting from the middle to the outer tracks.
According to South Eastern Railway officials, the affected train, identified as the 22850 Secunderabad-Shalimar Weekly Express, saw a parcel van and two passenger coaches derail. Thankfully, no major injuries or casualties have been reported so far.
Relief efforts have been swiftly mobilized, with medical teams and relief trains from Santragachhi and Kharagpur arriving at the site. In addition, buses have been arranged to transport the stranded passengers to their intended destinations. The cause of the derailment is under investigation, and authorities are working to restore normalcy on the affected tracks.
