Lucknow Man Arrested for Murdering Delivery Executive Over iPhone Purchase

Date:

In a disturbing incident in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, a man named Gajanan has been arrested for allegedly murdering a delivery executive after ordering an iPhone through a Cash-on-Delivery (COD) payment option. The shocking crime, which highlights the lengths some individuals may go to avoid financial responsibilities, has left the local community in disbelief.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashank Singh, Gajanan ordered an Apple iPhone valued at approximately ₹1.5 lakh from an e-commerce website, Flipkart, choosing the COD option for payment. The delivery executive, identified as Bharat Sahu, 30, from Nishatganj, was dispatched to Gajanan’s residence to complete the delivery on September 23.

Tragically, Sahu never returned home after making the delivery. His family filed a missing persons report on September 25 when he failed to come back for two days. Upon investigation, police traced Sahu’s last known location using his mobile phone and reviewed CCTV footage from the area.

During the investigation, police interrogated Sahu’s friend, Akash, who eventually confessed to the crime, revealing that Gajanan and his accomplice had killed Sahu to evade paying for the expensive phone. They allegedly strangled Sahu, placed his body in a sack, and disposed of it in the Indira Canal.

Deputy Commissioner Singh noted that authorities are currently working to retrieve Sahu’s body from the canal. “This is a heinous crime, and we are doing everything possible to ensure justice for the victim and his family,” Singh stated.

The murder has raised alarm in the community, particularly as Apple iPhones have a reputation for being a symbol of status in India. With the recent launch of the Apple iPhone 16 series in India, the incident serves as a grim reminder of the extreme actions some may take over material possessions.
