Karnataka Teen’s Heroic Act Saves Mother’s Life; CM Siddaramaiah Praises Bravery

A teenager in Mangalore has been hailed for her extraordinary bravery after she saved her mother’s life by lifting a speeding autorickshaw that had run over her. The quick-thinking act was captured in a viral video and has garnered widespread acclaim, including praise from Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The incident occurred when the young girl’s mother was struck by an autorickshaw while crossing the street, reportedly on her way to pick up her daughter from tuition classes. The three-wheeler also collided with a man at a nearby petrol pump before hitting the woman. In the dramatic video, the girl is seen rushing to the scene and, despite the chaos, manages to lift the autorickshaw off her mother. Her swift actions not only saved her mother but also helped another passenger trapped under the vehicle.

In response to the heroic rescue, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took to social media to commend the teenager. “Recently, I have seen many times in the media that people who were supposed to rush to the aid of the victims were standing around and making videos on mobile phones at the accident sites, which made me worried about the future days. The action of this little girl seems to send a message to the entire society. Every second is precious for the victims of an accident, fire, or heart attack. Don’t forget humanity,” he wrote in an X post.

The video has sparked a range of reactions from the public. Many have praised the girl for her decisive action. One user commented, “That girl must be given some award. Instead of taking a video, she immediately jumped to help. We need more youngsters like her.”

However, there has also been some criticism. An X user named Rajit remarked, “Auto at fault for speeding. The woman is at fault for crossing the road with zero sense and not stopping. Everyone is at fault for picking her up after she got crushed. Call an ambulance, and DON’T move the patient in such situations unless they’re in immediate danger. You could do more damage.”

The incident has highlighted both the importance of timely intervention in emergencies and the need for careful handling of accident scenes. The bravery of the young girl has, nonetheless, become a beacon of hope and a reminder of the value of compassion in critical situations.
