Maharashtra BJP Chief Calls for Equal Justice After Son's Audi Hits Several Vehicles

Maharashtra BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule has called for impartial justice following an incident in which his son’s Audi rammed several vehicles in Nagpur. The accident, which occurred in the Ramdaspeth area, has drawn significant attention due to Bawankule’s prominent political position.

On Tuesday, Bawankule acknowledged that the Audi involved in the accident is registered in the name of his son, Sanket Bawankule. “By God’s grace, no one was injured and no casualties were reported,” he said. “But several vehicles were damaged. I have said this yesterday also: whether the car is in the name of my son or a criminal, proper action should be taken against them. The police have given me the primary information. Justice should be equal to all.”

The police have registered a case of rash driving against Arjun Haware, the driver of the car, and Ronit Chintanwar, who was seated next to him. Authorities confirmed that the vehicle is registered in Sanket Bawankule’s name.

Chandrashekhar Bawankule emphasized the need for a fair and thorough investigation, stating, “The police should conduct a fair and complete investigation of this accident; no one should be judged differently. Those who are guilty should be charged and action should be taken against them. Justice should be equal to all, whether one is related to politics or anyone else. The law must be equal for all.”

In response to the incident, the Maharashtra Congress has alleged that Sanket Bawankule was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. They accused the home department of attempting to protect him. “In Nagpur, the son of a senior BJP leader hit four to five cars in the middle of the night in a drunken state, after which the entire home department went to work to save and hide the boy. So is law and order only to torture the common people?” the Congress party posted on X.

The police have arrested Arjun Haware, the driver of the Audi. Reports indicate that the occupants of the car were returning from a beer bar in Dharampeth when the accident occurred. This incident follows a recent case in Mumbai involving the son of a Shiv Sena leader, who was involved in a fatal accident with his BMW.
